End of the first week back on the 2nd floor
It is Friday night and the end of the first week back in 216C. It has been a busy day and a busy week. With the latest medical issues behind him, Dana finally got to take some advantage of the rehab expertise here at the Shepherd Center. He attended most of his physical and occupational therapy sessions and his speech therapy sessions. Although these sessions are quite short (one hour) at this point, they really take a lot out of him. He's pretty tired by the end of the day. We're concentrating on nutrition to help him heal and to provide him with fuel for his recovery. He had a good eating day today and we almost got three full meals in him, so that's a start. Dana also got a bit of an extreme makeover. He got a haircut (his first since the ICU in Albany) and a shave (his first in about a week) so he's looking good! We'll try to post some up-to-date pictures as soon as we figure out how to do that. We're all looking forward to a restful and relaxing weekend.

To Dana and Family - This is Mark Ledge here... The IHA XC Girls have a big meet tomorrow in which we hope to repeat as county group champions and break a few team course records in the process. We know Dana will be with us in spirit to push us through. Also, Regina's Dominican College XC girls have their conference meet tomorrow. Undoubtedly they will be running for Dana and hoping for a top ten finish for the first time in school history. We know you are with us in spirit Dana and we are all with you as you fight hard through your rehab. Be strong brother!
We are thinking of you Dana and so happy to hear about your progress! Keep up the good work!
Love,
Dan and Lauren
Hello in Atlanta!!!
We are here in Horseheads where it is damp and slightly cool tonight. Hope the weather there is a little warmer...and sunnier too! Dana sleep well tonight! We love you and miss you very much! Rick and Linda...hi...enjoy your Sunday with Dana. We are thinking about all of you. Can't wait to get back to Atlanta...Just a test!!!
Love, Court, Britt, Q, Aunt Andrea and Ernie Weston.
Dana-
Real food and hard work--two things we are happy to hear you are getting again!! We were also told that your voice is as strong as your determination! Now that you have the 'roller coaster' ride behind you, may you have smooth sailing along the 'highway' of recovery....you and Courtney continue to be with us in thought and prayer and we hope that everyday continues to get better than the last. A few of us are even cheering for your Cowboys--that's how much of an inspiration you are to us!!!!!!!! And like your Cowboys, you are #1 in our league. Stay positive, stay focused and most importantly-work hard.

Hey Dana and family- So happy to hear all the progress you have made! Wow...truly amazing. Glad to hear that you are eating and working hard. Hope the weather is good! Here it has been chilly at night and early morning. Today though, it is suppose to be 80 and mostly sunny...in October. And again, thank you Dana and Courtney for the wedding card and gift. We miss you two and so wish we could be there in Atlanta. You are always in our thoughts and prayers and we check this blog everyday! Keep up the good work and moving forward!!! Take care all!
Love,
Jen & Dana
Dana,
It's so nice to hear of your continued progress. We're ALWAYS thinking of you, no matter what. I know Dave is so happy when he gets to speak to you and those close to you to hear how positive things are going. He just lights up after he gets his Dana Carr updates. It's like Court when she hears there is a Cheesecake Factory nearby (it's exciting stuff...and speaking of that, now she has me wanting to go back to the one in Albany)! (o:
We wish we could be there with you. Keep going strong! You inspire us all, more than you know. Miss you!!!
Lots and lots of love,
Michele and Dave
Dear Dana and Family:
We continue to pray for you all and field questions regarding your progress from our friends who continue to keep you in their prayers as well. We got to spend last weekend with Nate at the Ohio State football game. He keeps me up to date on developments if I miss checking the website. We wish you a great week!

hey dana, so happy to hear that you are doing well! Its great to see your energy and positive attitude pulling you through, as im sure it has with countless physical challenges in years past. our cross country team back here at Horseheads is having a pretty good season, and we're hoping to make states as a team (we're class A now, no ithaca.) we've got two races left, and we'll run them for you and for all the time you've spent mentoring us.
Best wishes,
Christian
