On The Move

All is well in Atlanta today. Dana was given the ok to transfer out of ICU. A long awaited step back in the right direction. He is back on the second floor, (Rehab floor),just in a different room. A room with a window view!! Room 216 C.
The morning was filled with some rehab sessions including some weight training. The afternoon, a game of SORRY!! Courtney vs. Dana......and after a long fun game, Dana reigned as champion!(just barely). Dana is up in his chair now, getting ready for some liquid dinner. We look forward to a restful weekend. Full rehab starts again on Monday. Dana needs to be rested! Hope all of you have a great fall weekend!
Signing off for now,
Courtney and Dana

Green means GO...Dana, you and Court are the very meaning of that phrase! A room with a view, and Monday morning start of strength training will get you out into the view, instead of just watching it. We can't wait for your determination and motivation to shine (as usual) when you 'kick it up a notch' Dana! To paraphrase from another comment...You two ROCK!

Love and Hugs,
Aunt Judy and Uncle Terry

Hiya Dana and Courtney!
What a wonderful update! It's really great to hear that you are moving in the right direction again. We continue to check the blog on a daily basis (its become as much of a routine as our morning coffee!) and the positive updates really brighten our day....just like the Ride of 05 site did! Continue to rest and get stronger and we hope to see you soon...we are talking with the Riopkos about a possible ATL trip!
Love,
Jon and Jillian

Dear Dana,Courtney, and all the Carr family,

HI!!! I miss seeing you guys out in the yard! I check this blog every day.....it is so uplifting to read all the good news, and as far as all the (sometimes) "not so good" news, I can only say prayer is the best thing we can all do for you. I've been trying to think of what I can do for you when you get home, and it is a no-brainer! I am offering you a years worth of massage. I don't care if it is 1X/mo. or 2X/wk. We will figure out all the logistics later. The only thing I'd like you to do is check with your Dr's/PT's to see what specifics I should know. And Courtney, Linda, Rick, and Jessy, you each could probably use one to just help you relax.......you all have been sleeping/traveling in some rather uncomfortable positions since Aug. 12th! I'm very serious about this, so I hope you will give me a call whenever you are up this way! :)

I'm so grateful that you posted the directions for "posting to the blog!" I tried but could never figure it out!

Dana, you are one of the most motivated/spirited/determined/focused (is that enough???) individuals I know, so keep up the good work, enjoy the view from your room, and I'll "talk" to you again soon. Rest. God Bless,
Marlene and Bob

Hi Courtney, Dana: I've not posted in quite some time, but not because you haven't both been in my thoughts. I've been kept up to date both by Colleen (before she skipped town) and by Melinda (who works with Rick). I know you've had some set backs, but your ever positive attitude is so darn impressive and will keep carrying you through the hurdles. Keep up the good work, both of you!!! Laurie

We are so happy to read how well your are doing. Your strength and courage are an inspiration to all of us who know you. We ran the Baltimore Marathon relay this weekend, the four members of our team proudly wore our "running for Dana bracelets" and continue to wear them. They inspired us all, and we did better than expected, finishing in the top 50% -
good luck as you start your rehab today, we know that you will do well....
Love

Hey Dana and Courtney,
Just wanted to say hi and I am glad to see you are getting out of the ICU, Dana. I was sad to hear of what happened but am not surprised you are doing so well again! We still think about all of you here at Albany Med and when I walk out of the ICU I still look to see who is in the waiting room... you always had so many people cheering you on, and it sounds like that hasn't stopped! (I don't think it ever will!) Well, take care. I look forward to seeing you all when you leave Atlanta!!
Kristen (RN at Albany Med)
