Following a busy, family filled weekend, it was back to business on Monday. In addition to Monday's usual therapy, Dana, Courtney and Brittany also attended the seating clinic. The seating clinic presents the different options for chairs and the bells and whistles that can be added. Dana ordered his take home chair a little early so he will be able to get used to it before going home. A manual chair, black and silver in color, two sets of wheels, (one for going a little faster), and a great cushion. The frame is titanium and very lightweight. Ironically, selecting a wheelchair is very similar to selecting a bicycle....an area we know Dana is an expert at!!Following the seating clinic...it was off to an orientation of the pool. As soon as Dana is medically cleared he will be able to start therapy in the pool.
Partial results of the neuro psych test that Dana took last week are in. He excelled in most all departments but there are a few that still need some fine tuning. The speech therapist will focus on the specific areas. In saying that, we have heard from just about every doc, therapist etc..that when you hit your head as hard as Dana hit his, it is hard to believe and nothing short of miraculous the progress he has made so far.
Tuesday was another busy day! Dana received his first massage in the afternoon. It helped to loosen up some of the muscles in his neck and upper back. Following the massage was a stretching class. On Tuesday night Dana and I went out to dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory. It was the first time since August 12th that Dana had been off the campus of a hospital. It was part of the Therapeutic Recreation program here that helps to get patients back in the community as active members. He was thrilled to get out and see some of Atlanta.
Happy Halloween (belated) to all. The Shepherd Center really does it up for Halloween. Dana and I dressed up with his team and went to the Haunted House. Dana was a Pimp Master and I was the mistress. If I can figure out how to post pictures, I will. They are rather comical. As always...thanks for the cards, love, support and Halloween treats. Dana really enjoys the cards and emails. They add that extra boost of support to the day. He continues to work hard and put forth 110% into all of his therapy. On a last note, the left arm continues to heal. Have a good afternoon everyone!

How wonderful to hear that Dana got out to see a 'few of the sights'!! And a massage to boot..we can only imagine how good that must have felt. We hope that you can get into the pool soon. Nothing better than hydrotherapy. We're glad to hear that you had a little fun with Halloween. A little diviation from the everyday norm. We are still praying for and thinking of you both everyday and it's updates like this that make us believe our prayers are being heard.

Hi from Elmira. Wanted Dana to know that Ryan Johnson, (his wife works with Courtney at AOMC) our daughter Sarah's soccer coach at EDMS told the team about Dana, his accident, his recovery, and the passion he has for sports, to motivate the girls to work hard each and every day. My daughter Sarah was so excited because she hears us talk about Dana. Way to go. Now you're a legend at EDMS.
Hello to both Dana and Courtney! You continue to amaze everyone, and we all look forward to the day when you will be home. It sounds like that can't be too far off. Fred & Neva Kelly
Dana, It is great to hear that you're making progress. You need to get some off road tires for your chair, it'll be hard to get on the right of way. Things are progressing with my truck rack. They hope to close by the end of the year......you know how lawyers can drag things out! Take care and I wish you all the best.

Hi Dana!
Great to hear you're progressing. Don't forget to get some off-road tires as you'll need them. The truck rack property deal is finally making progress. The legal team hopes to finalize everything by the end of the year. Everyone has you in their prayers, take care and hope to see you soon.

Dana, Glad all is progressing. I see one minor issue; you also need off-road tires to get around the jobs. The BP Property deal is finnaly moving forward and they want to get it done by the end of the year. Things are looking up for my truck rack.
Dominion Transmission is trying to get approval to build a propane terminal off I-70 near Charleroi, PA. They want to put 6-90,000 gallon bullets in underground with a two bay truck rack. The residents aren't in favor of it, I can't say I am either. This prompted some more activity in Houston. Business is tough out there and this rack would impact us at the rack and off our pipeline. Enough about work, you and Courtney take care and God Bless you all.

It's great to hear all the good news! My students keep asking for updates and it's great to give them the positive news. Happy Halloween!
